Composition of heavy duty connector and its application in industrial connection

"There are a variety of connectors used in industrial applications that carry power, sensor signals, and control data from the cable into and out of the automation component through their connection points. Heavy-duty connectors are sometimes abbreviated to HDC in connector product names, and their composition depends on the specific application... So sometimes it's relative. That said, there is a clear distinction between ruggeDIzed industrial connectors and the lightweight RJ and IEC connectors used in clean indoor automation applications that incorporate basic Ethernet and light load power."

A variety of connectors are used in industrial applications to carry power, sensor signals, and control data from the cable into and out of the automation assembly through their connection points. Heavy-duty connectors are sometimes abbreviated to HDC in connector product names, and their composition depends on the specific application... So sometimes it's relative. That said, there is a clear distinction between ruggeDIzed industrial connectors and the lightweight RJ and IEC connectors used in clean indoor automation applications that incorporate basic Ethernet and light load power.

Heavy-duty connectors can have greater overall robustness, as well as greater intrusion protection, lower flammability, wide operating temperature ranges, interlocking, ground shielding, or simply more reliable connections and stronger connections.

Heavy duty cable seal sleeve with connector
Cable seals (sometimes called wire presses) are mostly mechanical parts. The cable seal sleeve wraps around the cable as it passes through the boundaries of the industrial control panel and other casings, connectors, and controller bodies made of sheet metal and hard plastic. The cable seal sleeve has three functions. The specific functions are as follows:
· Fixed cable
· Prevent cable scratching and other wear
· Form a seal around the cable to prevent moisture from entering and siphoning into the enclosure

The cable seal sleeve is used to secure the cable in such a way that the electrical contacts are protected from damage when the cable is pulled or otherwise disturbed. The cable seal sleeve also prevents friction between the cable sheath and the sharp hole edges of the housing because the seal sleeve will fill and expand at these edges. Without the cable seal sleeve, even the slightest movement of the cable will be quickly cut by the sharp edges of the holes in the casing until its outer insulation is completely sawed away... Finally, the cable core is short-circuited.

In contrast to these cable seal sleeves (surround cables), connectors are used for terminating cables -- often making it easier to disconnect and reattach cables, as well as connecting multiple components and cables. Typically, heavy-duty versions of this connector include one or more hardening features.

Heavy-duty cable connectors may be equipped with universal cable seal sleeves, cable clamps, or seal and twist proof devices to provide cable entry protection. Regardless of the mechanical form, these devices hold the cable in place and prevent it from being pulled out of the terminal. The cable inlet protection also protects the cable from abrasion as a separate cable seal sleeve. Note THAT LAMELLAE PLUGINS (CONNECTORS WITH MULTIPLE FINGERS) ARE COMMON ON MODERATELY REINFORCED CONNECTORS, ALTHOUGH PLUGINS NEED TO BE RETIGHTENED PERIODICALLY TO ENSURE ENTRY PROTECTION. For heavy duty applications, sealing sleeves provide a continuous seal and clamp cable, making them a more reliable and common option.

A protective cover on some heavy-duty cable connectors will surround the plug's conductor while providing insulation and intrusion protection -- there are also locking or latching sleeves or levers to keep the two parts of the connector together.

On many heavy-duty cable connectors, the male plug includes a male pin and a screw or crimping terminal for the contact part of the conductor core with the pin. In this type of connector, the female connector includes a complementary socket and a socket or crimping terminal for the contact part of the conductive core with the socket.

Heavy-duty cable connectors have perhaps their most noticeable features -- often including insulation and intrusion protection. Its accessories may include additional protective covers and pin code guides.
